Acupuncture
Acupuncture stimulates physiological changes that affect energy systems throughout the body according to traditional Chinese medicine. It can stimulate nerves, increase blood circulation, relieve muscle spasms and release endorphins (the body’s own pain killer) and cortisol (the body’s own anti-inflammatory).
Dr Sophie Dyson offers acupuncture treatments at our clinics to treat arthritis, urinary incontinence, lick granulomas and constipation, to name a few. An acupuncture session will last approximately one hour and usually four sessions are required to assess the response.

Anaesthesia
Anaesthesia can cause clients concern, especially for elderly patients. We have modern anaesthetic machines and isoflurane vapourisers delivering predictable and safe anaesthesia. All of our hospitals are also equipped with the latest monitoring equipment including apAlerts and pulse oxymetry.

Blood testing
Our hospitals have access to the Gribbles Group of pathologists and our samples are processed at the same laboratory as yours would be. There is a fast, reliable courier service and most results are available on a next-day basis. Our Dromana hospital has a state-of-the-art in-house analyser for emergency blood testing and monitoring of hospital patients, and each of the other hospitals have hand-held critical care analysers. All of this means we get results quickly when we need them.

Consultations
Our team of veterinarians offers high standards of practice and many have areas of special interest. Each of our vets completes at least a week of study every year in the form of conference attendance, visiting specialist practices or undertaking postgraduate training offered by recognised training institutes such as universities. This ensures our team has the most up-to-date information to aid in providing the best treatment for your pet.
Most consultations are scheduled for a 15-minute time slot. We attempt to keep punctual but if you have multiple problems or haven't visited the clinic for some time, please let us know so we can schedule a longer appointment time for your pet's care.

All of our branches have fully-equipped hospital facilities to ensure the best quality care is provided to your pet whether they are being treated for a medical or surgical complaint.

Laboratory
Comprehensive urine testing, faecal floatation, fungal cultures and ELISA testing for FIV, heartworm, FeLV and parvovirus are all available during consultations, as are skin, ear and aspirate cytology.

Radiology
Each of our hospitals is equipped with a full radiology suite including automatic processing of the radiographs. This enables us to produce high quality radiographs of your pets for diagnostic, surgical and referral purposes. Our Dromana and East Mornington hospitals also have high power radiographic machines enabling even the largest patients to have high quality radiographic results.

Surgery
Each hospital has a separate sterile surgery and a 'wet area' for the less sterile procedures keeping 'clean' and 'dirty' surgical procedures completely physically separated. Each hospital also has a full range of surgical equipment including suction and electrocautery units.
Ultrasonography
Peninsula Vet Care has a new portable ultrasound machine capable of producing clear diagnostic images. The ultrasound interprets sound waves to create images. This helps us to visualize the internal organs such as the heart, liver and bladder. Pregnacy diagnosis is possible from 3 weeks after mating.
